3 Ways to Build Structure In Your Life

August 18, 20263 min read

There is a version of the fitness industry that runs on trends, quick fixes, and whatever supplement is getting the most attention that month. Brett Lundeen has spent years building a career that goes in the opposite direction. On this episode, I talked with Brett, owner of Built By Brett Online Coaching and a fitness coach and transformation expert, about what actually works, why he walked away from the traditional gym setting to build his own brand, and why he thinks one of the biggest trends in fitness right now is one of the most overrated.

Building a Career From Nothing

Brett did not grow up around fitness. He picked up his first dumbbell as a teenager and slowly built a foundation with no blueprint to follow. That early experience shaped how he coaches today. Rather than pushing complicated programs, he leans into simplicity: consistent movement, real food, and enough structure to make progress without burning out.

Leaving the Traditional Gym Behind

Before building Built By Brett Online Coaching, Brett spent years working inside a well known gym environment early in his career. It taught him the fundamentals of the industry and how to build relationships with clients, but it also came with limits on his time and how he wanted to run his business. Eventually, he made the decision to go out on his own, trading a steady paycheck for the ability to set his own structure, his own rates, and his own schedule. It was not an easy transition, but it gave him something he valued more: control over his time and his work.

The Peptide and TRT Trend He Is Tired Of

One of the most candid parts of our conversation centered on peptides and TRT, a trend Brett said has become wildly overused. He shared that he has coached people who jumped into peptides without a clear reason, often without even having a consistent workout routine in place. His take was simple: most people chasing quick fixes could get the same results, more energy, less belly fat, better overall health, by simply moving daily, lifting a few times a week, eating clean most of the time, and getting enough sleep.

A Thirty Minute Workout That Actually Works

For anyone short on time, Brett broke down one of his favorite training formats: the EMOM, or every minute on the minute. He walked through how to structure a full body workout using just a handful of movements and a single kettlebell or a pair of dumbbells, proving that a serious workout does not require a fully equipped gym or hours of free time.

The Real Key: Consistency Over Everything

More than any single tip, Brett kept coming back to one theme throughout our conversation: consistency. He talked about the compound effect, how the work you put in today may not show results immediately, but tends to show up weeks or months down the line. His advice for anyone struggling to stay on track was refreshingly simple. Keep showing up, even when it is hard, because that is ultimately what separates the people who see real change from the people who do not.

Brett’s story is a reminder that lasting transformation rarely comes from a shortcut. It comes from consistency, discipline, and the willingness to keep showing up long after motivation runs out.
